OH!!! While I was at the school this morning I saw the kids' First grade teacher, the lovely Ms. Kaiser! :D She asked if I knew who my kids had for Second grade yet, and said that she knew, but probably shouldn't tell me...so I asked if she knew if they were at least in the SAME class, and she said YES!!!!! I am SO excited...it's such a BIG answer to prayer for me. Having only one teacher to communicate with will be so much easier for me...plus, I want to sign up to be the homeroom mom...hopefully I'll beat everyone else to it ;)
I was a good girl yesterday and FINALLY got the kiddos to Walmart to have professional pictures taken!!! The one pose of the kids together that I got in the cheap $5 package will be arriving around September 1st. There were two other poses that I would like to have pictures made of, but I think we will try to order those online...they are cheaper than the in-store price of $20 per sheet O_O
The birthday party went really well! We had it from 1-4, last Saturday, and the kids had a blast :) We had 5 girls and 5 boys show up...all but two were about the same age as our kids. We played a few games, and then let the kids just run around and play whatever because that is what they wanted to do! I had prepared for a few more games, but they opted for free play...oh well ;)
I had decided to make a small round cake for each of them, and then matching cupcakes for the guests. Abigail had strawberry cake with strawberry frosting and a Strawberry Shortcake candle on top :) The matching cupcakes had Strawberry Shortcake wrappers. For Joshua, we were going for the Spider Man theme...I had something really cool planned, but it ended up failing at the end :( I had spray painted his cake red, and also bought some black spray paint...well, the black was coming out a super light grey color, so I didn't get to use it :( I was going to paint a cool webbing on the cake, and then center the Spider Man candle in the middle of it. I ended up just doing it all red and then added some red sprinkles. It was all still very yummy :)
School starts this next Monday!!!!! I'm so happy for the kids that they will be back with their friends, and be able to make some new ones! They were pretty lonely this Summer, except for being able to play with Brianna, our neighbor just down the street. She is a really sweet girl :) Most of the other kids were either out of town or in day care...
The best things about this Summer were the free family movie days at Regal Cinemas. We drove over to Opry Mills just about every Tuesday and Wednesday to watch a different movie each time. We got to see several cool ones, and Brianna and her mom, Lisa, went with us several times too! I have really enjoyed hanging out with Lisa...we're becoming really good friends, which is AWESOME to have as a neighbor ;) Oh! One other thing...I am now officially a member of our subdivision's board of directors!!! I took another woman's place when she moved away :) I have my first meeting on August 26th...it should be interesting...
Well, I have to get up early and get to school by 8am tomorrow, so I better scoot off to bed! :)
