The Caketastrophies of Jenn...

I'm tellin' ya...I'm having a stinker of time with these cakes!!! Thinking I would save some time, and my hands, I bought the Betty Crocker Easy Flow Decorating Icing. I have always bought the kind in the tube that kills your hands as you squeeze it. Abby picked out a pretty pink frosting, and Joshua picked cool blue. I started decorating Abby's cake first, and found that the frosting was more like a gel...I don't think it's supposed to be like that. I opened up Josh's blue, and it is a lot stiffer and normal. I tried doing a decorative edge all around the cake, but it just wasn't looking right, and then the frosting began to slide off of the cake!!!! It's pretty pathetic looking now. We decided that we'd buy a new kind of base frosting for Josh's cake, and still give the two layer, round style a try on his. For Abby, we will be doing another cake. I'm baking it in a 9x13 pan this time, and she chose these cute fishy candy decorations for the top of it! I'm going to try to do an ocean theme on her's. Joshua bought some soccer balls for his...totally boy ;)

So, here we have Abby's poor, sad cake...I think it will be dessert for tonight... The frosting looks more like a glaze...and it's not even PINK!! Grrrrrr! What a pathetic cake :( Oh, and all of those little blue flowers USED to be all along the top edge of the cake :p
